221 South Oak

221 South Oak

Lovely Bistro in Historic House

221 South Oak is a warm, inviting gem of a restaurant tucked away just half a block from the Gondola. Chef Eliza, who competed on Season 10 of Top Chef, attended Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and worked in restaurants in the Big Easy and Napa Valley before landing in Telluride. Purchasing 221 South Oak in the Fall of 2000 gave her the freedom to not only choose the freshest ingredients but also to experiment with different preparation methods. The result is a loyal following of delighted and sated customers.

The menu changes seasonally at 221 South Oak, but some favorite staples include saffron braised octopus and Eliza's housemade sausage plate to start and Colorado lamb loin chops and braised venison osso buco for main dishes.

Vegetarians can rest easy, as there is an entire menu catered for them! Try the tofu with dulse and watermelon or the baby summer squash and pepita crumble.

Brunch is served on Sundays, and the lucky will get a coveted spot on the patio. Choose from gluten-free lemon and chia seed waffles, a variety of eggs benedict or duck confit served with a fried egg. Make sure to order strawberry beignets for the table. Take your time and linger, you won't be disappointed.
