Nordic Skiing

Nordic skiing is a great way to get outdoors and explore Telluride during the winter months. Telluride has a great system of groomed trails both in town and in the surrounding areas, all of which are surrounded by stunning scenic vistas.

Nordic Skiing in Telluride

A Nordic Skiers' Paradise

Nordic skiing is a great way to get some exercise and take in the scenery along the way. The Telluride Nordic Association grooms and maintains all of the Nordic trails in Telluride and at Trout Lake and Priest Lake.

Some of the best places to go around Telluride:

  • Town Park - Town Park is a great spot for beginner nordic skiers to learn the ropes before taking on some tougher trails. There are almost two miles of groomed trails that wind through the park in a loop.
  • Valley Floor - With over nine miles of groomed terrain that cover the entire Valley Floor, this is a local favorite spot to partake in Nordic skiing. No dogs are allowed and there is a separate trail for snow biking.
  • Mountain Village - Mountain Village offers 10 trails across the mountain that traverse trees and open fields with stellar views. Eight miles of trails run from the Mountain Village Center to the Mountain Village entrance, while there are three located off of Lift #10 at the TopAten Snowshoe and Nordic Area. These trails are designated for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing.
  • Priest Lake and Trout Lake - Located just a short drive down Highway 145, both Priest and Trout Lake offer dog-friendly groomed trails with amazing views of Lizard Head.
